Washington D.C. in 24 Hours: What You Need to See, What You Need to Skip

Hello everyone! For those of you who don’t know, last month I was in Niagara Falls, but what EVERYONE doesn’t know, is that I also spent a day in Washington D.C.! It was so much fun to see our nations capital, with is so rich with history and culture, even though I had only a short amount of time. So I thought I’d help people who might be in the same place I was, with one a short amount of time to see so much!

Here’s What You Need to See:

Washington Monument

This one is SUPER cool, even to just walk around. My family parked downtown and then just walked from site to site, so we didn’t spend much time here, but it was still fun.

Capitol Building

Again, my family didn’t go inside, but it was really fun to see it up close and in person!

Lincoln Memorial

This was a lot of  fun to see how big it was!

White House

We just drove past the white house, but it was really fun to see where our president lives and works.

Air and Space Museum

I remember when I was younger, and this time, we went to this museum and spent a couple of REALLY fun hours there. My family has always been fascinated by airplanes and helicopters and space, and my dad is a pilot so its a really fun way to learn about what people like my dad do.

Museum of the Bible

Although you could probably spend many many days in this museum, learning about  the history of the Bible, you can also get a lot from it in just a few short hours. I definitely suggest the “Walk Through the Old Testament” and the “Bible in Today’s World” Exhibits.

There you have it! That’s what you need to see and do in Washington D.C. in 24 hours or less!

  1. I am SOOOOO Jealous! I’d love to travel more than I do, but my wallet just laughs at me when I look at flights and accommodation.
