Why Bluebonnet Fields are Texas’ Best Kept Secret

Hey ya’ll! How has quarantine been so far? I feel like I haven’t seen my friends in years, when in reality it’s just been a couple weeks. During this time of isolation, it’s really easy to feel alone and that’s why I just want to check up on ya’ll. If you have any prayer requests at all, please let me know in the comments below. In Isaiah 41:10 God says “Don’t be afraid for I am with you.” Even though we’re going through these scary times, God is still with you and looking out for you.

I also want to encourage you to explore your neighborhood and the “little wonders” that might be right outside your window, and you’d never noticed them before. One of the only things keeping me sane during quarantine has been walks around my neighborhood, which was how I came across this gorgeous bluebonnet field! For those of y’all who don’t know, bluebonnets are the State flower of Texas, which is where I live (can y’all tell). During the springtime, bluebonnets pop up in fields all over the state, often in the most random places. There are some really gorgeous fields in outside of Austin and Dallas. Check some of them out HERE.

When you think of the most southern state of the US, pretty blue flowers probably aren’t the first thing that come to mind. You probably think of rodeos, cowboys, and the AMAZING barbecue, but these flowers are such a hidden gem!

If you are planning a visit to Texas after quarantine, you definitely need to add the bluebonnet fields to your bucket list. Not only are the fields just peaceful and fun let your kids run around in, they’re also one of the most Instagram-able locations. Bluebonnet’s are the Texas equivalent of Dutch tulips or French lavender fields, just with less hype. This means that there’s less photographers to compete with, and most of them are completely free. Do I have to say anything more? I think these pictures speak for themselves ; )

I hope y’all are surviving quarantine, and taking more time to focus on the small moments. Going through this period of isolation and social distancing has helped me grow as a person spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. It’s taught me to appreciate the small moments, and forced me to reconnect with my family and friend’s I’ve moved away from. What are some things you’ve learned during quarantine? Let me know in the comments below!

Love y’all,

Tryphena
